SvNikola

Early-Romanesque St Nicholas Church near Nin, Zadar County, Croatia

Near the old town of  Nin, near Zadar, at the site Prahulje, the Church of St. Nicholas rises on the prehistoric artificial hill. The church has trefoil shape ground plan and small dimensions. The vault is dome-shaped and is reinforced with ribbed arches. During the turbulent wars with the Turks, defense tower with battlements was subsequently constructed above the dome. The church is the only surviving example of early Romanesque architecture of that type in Dalmatia and dates back to the very beginning of the 12th century.

SvMarija

Pre-Romanesque St Mary Church Iz Island, Zadar County, Croatia

The original church of St. Mary in Mali Iz, Island of Iz, Zadar County, is one of the most interesting of our circular shaped churches, which has been reduced to its elemental form. It dates back in eleventh century and this is its assumed look. Later rectangular construction in seventeenth century made this original church to be just an apse.

Older Souvenir-Like Pieces

My older souvenir-type works in various materials, some of them made in company with my brother thirty years ago. The very first and last shots are of little model of Church of Our Lady of Carmel in Brela, beautiful little place in Dalmatia, Croatia. "Brela" is also the name of song playing in background, author Damir Halilić Hal, from the "Ocean" album.
